Course Aim
The 1-day course is designed to provide you with an introduction to modern slavery and human trafficking. Through audio visual material, case studies and interactive sessions.
MAGE will introduce you to the Modern Slavery Act 2015. You will learn where exploitation takes place, the signs and indicators associated with victims and exploitation, and the common types of exploitative situations seen in society.
The course will also provide you with an understanding of the national referral mechanism (NRM) and how to refer a victim for support
Learning Intentions
- To describe the main provisions of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, including the legislation, ancillary orders, the anti-slavery commissioner and slavery in supply chain obligations for businesses.
- To explain the signs and indicators of modern slavery & human trafficking.
- To explain the common locations where modern slavery takes place and the exploitation types seen in the UK.
- To explain the National Referral Mechanism and Duty to Notify Process and how to refer a potential victim for support.
- To describe the push/pull factors associated with becoming a victim and international trends in terms of nationalities seen.

This course is applicable to all and is designed to raise awareness and understanding across not only the public and private sectors, but among members of the public too.
