Course Aim
Through audio visual material, case studies and interactive sessions MAGE will equip you with an understanding of modern slavery and human trafficking (MSHT) legislation, associated case law and the types of exploitation scenarios seen within MSHT for sexual exploitation. You will understand the strategies and tactics to consider within criminal investigations, and your obligations under European and domestic legislation to investigate irrespective of victim complaint or engagement.
The content will provide you with an understanding of how Adult Service Websites (ASW’s) are used in the trafficking and exploitation of victims for sexual exploitation, the evidential opportunities available from ASW sites and scraping tools such as ‘Traffic Jam’ (Marinus Analytics AI Solution to fight Human Trafficking). MAGE will enhance the learning of victim presentation and the reasons and challenges for non-engagement, including grooming, trauma, and cultural nuances.
To maximise safeguarding opportunities, you will be given the tools to develop effective victim strategies and bespoke engagement plans. You will learn how to plan and prepare for safeguarding visits or warrants where victims may be encountered. The course will include practical examples and interactive scenario-based exercises of how to implement the strategies advocated.
MAGE will prepare you to fully understand how this approach will afford you opportunities to glean evidential accounts and build better intelligence pictures. You will understand the importance of support through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) and from other agencies and NGO’s for dynamic victim engagement and in long-term support pathways
