Course Aim
This course follows on from the 1 day modern slavery awareness course. Through audio visual material, case studies and interactive sessions the advanced practitioner course takes an in-depth look at the provisions within the Modern Slavery Act 2015, including the legislation, ancillary orders and European law.
You will learn about the various ways victims present, the reasons why, and the best way to maximise engagement to successfully safeguard and rescue victims.
Learning Intentions
- To describe the main offences under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and how/where to apply them.
- To explain the points to prove and the evidential strategies and tactics associated with specific exploitation types.
- To explain trafficking in person obligations under European law and associated conventions.
- To describe the various ways victims present and the reasons why.
- To explain the barriers to victim engagement and the use of cultural and trauma -informed practice to build professional successful relationships.
Learners
This course is appropriate to professionals working in both the private, public and non-government sectors who have modern slavery responsibilities. Examples may be law enforcement investigators, local authority workers (social workers, housing officers, child sexual exploitation teams etc), charities and NGOs (non-government organisations) working with victims.
